Patches of tarmac are the only evidence that such a facility stood on the Island. The beautiful Island is comprised of 3000 people approximately with three villages Wasini, Nyumba Maji and Mwikiro. The primary economic activity is Tourism and fishing. Tourism has thrilled due to proximity to Kisite Mpunguti National Marine Park, which is just 10 KM away from the Island. In fact, tourists flocking the famous Kisite Mpunguti Marine Park the home to over 250 species of marine creatures and the perfect destination for Dolphin viewing crowd the Island for Lunch.

Wasini Island Itinerary
Day One. Nairobi – Mombasa

We meet in Nairobi Hilton Bata at 00500 hrs and depart for Mombasa. We love leaving this early so that we can beat the infamous Mombasa road jams. The Mombasa road safari is a long one but rests assured that there will be no boredom. All the time we have had a group safari people have had fun all along the way. You will enjoy the scenic views along the way. Along the way, if lucky you can spot some wild animals like giraffes zebras and even elephants along the vast Tsavo East and Tsavo West National parks which lie along the highway. During the trip, we will have some stopovers preferably at Mtito Andei for Lunch and a brief rest.
As the van approaches Mombasa you will have an opportunity to see the beautiful coastal villages and the scenic palm plantations embedded in a spectacular sunset view. We will pass through Mombasa main town cross over to Diani using the ferry to Diani and after a few Kilometres we will arrive at Bahari Dhow Villas for Dinner and overnight. Depending on the time of arrival, we can decide to undertake some activities off the beach. We love doing bonfire and chat time as we enjoy ourselves next to the beaches. Swimmers can swim in the calm beaches of Diani or the massive Diani Dhow Swimming Pools. The decision to go to bed will exclusively lie in your hands but beware of the next day’s events!

Day Two Diani – Kisite Mpunguti- Wasini

We will not let the previous day long safari hangovers and the comfort of Bahari Dhow villas delay us in bed. We shall have early breakfast preferably at 00530HRS and start our journey to Wasini Island latest by 00600HRS. We love watching dolphins live as the swim in the calm waters of the Indian Oceans. This is only possible when the sea waters are calm. Early mornings will present you with the opportunity to watch the lovely dolphins swim and play in the waters. Usually, Dolphins are very playful creatures, and when lucky you can see them trying to approach the boats. To the daring swimmers, one can attempt to swim along with them. To do this, you must be smart and courageous enough. Most of our clients enjoy taking photos of them as they swim and play. Another reason as to why we wake early is to be able to create enough space and time for our boat ride and swimming among other activities of the day.

Upon arrival at the Kisite Mpunguti National Marine park, we will get on board a traditional boat but powered by a motor and embark on a 2-3 hrs boat ride on our way Kisite Mpunguti Marine National Park. Along the way, we will have the opportunity to see dolphins. In most cases, it is 80 percent guarantee that you will come across these fantastic creatures.
